Round 2 - Race Report
Gulf ProCar keeps growing at second round.
Dubai. Saturday 5 November 2022.
After a successful opening round of Gulf ProCar 2022/23 last month, the second round confirmed the growing interest in the UAE Championship with more new entries featuring on the grid.
Over 20 cars entered, some of the new entries included Ian Roberts in his Praga and German driver René Münnich in his Honda TCR, bringing more international flavour to the championship.
In both races it was James Geddie (Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO) who made the better start and on each occasion a fierce battle was on the cards with Ian Roberts to take overall victory with James Geddie two times second. In race one it was Mohammed Al Hammadi (Porsche GT3 Cup) who took third, and the same honours were for René Münnich in Race 2.
For Class 2 the results for both races were a copy of Round 1 with James Geddie taking charge followed by team mates Mohammed Al Hammadi and Wolfgang Reinl (Porsche GT3 Cup).
After being the only TCR entry in Round 1, Dubai based Alexandros Annivas got company of the same competitor as last season from René Münnich. The pair fought some great battles, with Münnich coming out on top on both occasions.
In the Class RC newcomer James Greenwood made his Gulf ProCar debut along with Charlotte Simonds.
However, it were the same three TT Racing teammates who occupied the podium with Will Morrison in first, Kenny Murray in second and Craig Thompson in third for the first race. Finishing order was slightly different for the second race with Will Morrison still taking top honours, but Kenny Murray and Craig Thompson swapped places.
Class 5 was for the two Honda drivers Ricky Coomber and James Bourke each taking a victory.
Although Sebastian Gorga (Mercedes AMG GT4) was the only entry in Class 3 he was able to pick up some nice racing duals with other competitors.
Class 4 consists of seven Toyota GT 86 and we saw again a dominant Ahmad Al Majid winning both races followed closely by title defender Avik Awar with Aiman Sadat in third. That was for race 1, but in race 2 it was Aiman Sadat who improved one place with Scott Dimeler taking third place.
Next round for the Gulf ProCar is scheduled for Saturday 10 December at Dubai Autodrome on the National Track.
